December 30, 2025 A New York City neighborhood is reeling after a Monday afternoon 911 call led police to a sight so gruesome it shook even veteran first responders. What was initially reported as an "assault in progress" has spiraled into a nightmare investigation, ending with a mother in handcuffs and a toddler’s life cut tragically short.
The Grimy Discovery in Jamaica
Officers from the 103rd Precinct rushed to a home on 157th Street in Jamaica at approximately 1:37 p.m. on December 29. Inside, they found 15-month-old Charlie Ramraykha unconscious, unresponsive, and—most disturbingly—completely covered in blood.
Near the child lay his mother, 28-year-old Nicole Boodhai, who was bleeding from what appeared to be self-inflicted slash wounds to her wrists.
The Mystery of the "Blood-Covered" Baby
In a bizarre and chilling twist, sources close to the investigation revealed that while the toddler was found drenched in blood, the source of that blood remains a mystery.
Initial reports suggested the child had suffered blunt force trauma or slash wounds. However, investigators were stunned to find that once the blood was washed away, there were no obvious signs of physical injury on little Charlie.
Charges Filed from a Hospital Bed
While the mother was stabilized at Jamaica Hospital, the legal hammer fell swiftly. Police officially charged Boodhai on Tuesday with:
-
Murder
-
Endangering the Welfare of a Child
Boodhai, who reportedly lived just blocks away from the scene on 155th Street, lived separately from the child's father. As of now, the motive behind this horrific incident remains locked behind a wall of silence.

The Medical Examiner’s Crucial Role
Because there were no visible wounds on the child despite the presence of blood, the City’s Chief Medical Examiner is now the key to solving this case. An autopsy is underway to determine if the child was suffocated, poisoned, or succumbed to internal injuries that weren't visible to the naked eye.
The community is left asking: How did a 15-month-old end up in a pool of blood without a scratch on him? And what pushed a young mother over the edge?
This is a developing story. We will provide updates as the Medical Examiner releases the official cause of death.
