December 17, 2025 The streets of Crown Heights are flooded with blue uniforms today as New York City faces a terrifying surge in targeted violence. Just one block from the world-famous Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters, a 35-year-old man was stabbed in the chest in broad daylight—and investigators fear the motive was pure hate.
Coming on the heels of a horrific mass shooting targeting Chabad members in Australia, this local bloodshed has sent shockwaves through a community already in mourning.
A Walk to the Store Turns Into a Bloodshed
At approximately 4:00 PM on Tuesday, near the intersection of Kingston Avenue and Lincoln Place, what began as a verbal dispute spiraled into a life-threatening encounter.
According to the NYPD, a confrontation between two men turned physical when the suspect produced a sharp object and plunged it into the victim’s chest. In a display of sheer adrenaline, the injured victim reportedly continued to follow his attacker for several blocks before the suspect vanished into the Brooklyn afternoon.
The victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital. While he has been treated and released, the psychological scars on the neighborhood are far deeper.
The Shadow of Bondi Beach
The timing of this attack is nothing short of chilling. The global Chabad community is currently reeling from a mass shooting in Bondi Beach, Sydney, that left 15 dead during a Hanukkah celebration.
"We are all one body, literally and figuratively," said resident Krana Nebenzahl. For the people of Crown Heights, the stabbing isn't just a local crime—it feels like a continuation of a global assault on their identity.
Is Brooklyn Under Siege?
The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is now investigating reports that the suspect hurled antisemitic slurs before the blade was drawn. This marks the second high-profile bias investigation in Brooklyn in just 48 hours:
-
Monday Night: A group of students was threatened on a 3 train by men allegedly shouting "F-- the Jews."
-
Tuesday Afternoon: The Kingston Avenue stabbing occurs just steps from the "770" iconic headquarters.

While police initially downplayed the subway incident as a "seating dispute," the sheer frequency of these attacks has forced a massive surge in police presence. Dozens of extra officers have been deployed to patrol the streets of Crown Heights as the manhunt intensifies.
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?
The NYPD has released surveillance images of the suspect and is pleading with the public for help.
