July 10, 2025 Queens, NY – Authorities have apprehended a man accused of luring a teenage boy with the promise of construction work before committing a sex act. Jose Taveras, whose age was not immediately released, was arrested two days after the incident by the NYPD Special Victims Squad.

According to police, Taveras allegedly approached the boy in a vehicle, honked, and motioned him over. He then reportedly told the teenager his brother owned a construction company and offered him employment. Following a sex act, Taveras allegedly gave the boy a $50 bill as he exited the car.

Taveras was arraigned the day after his arrest, and bail was set at $20,000. He faces multiple charges, including rape, luring a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and sexual abuse.

Detectives involved in the case have indicated they believe Taveras may have approached other teenagers. The NYPD is urging any potential additional victims to come forward.
