August 19, 2025 SOUTH BRONX, NY — A routine dispute outside a South Bronx liquor store turned deadly late Monday night, leaving a man with a troubled past dead and a community on edge. Police say 31-year-old Katrell Dixon, a parolee with an extensive criminal record, was stabbed multiple times in the chest following a heated argument. The killer remains at large, and the motive behind the fatal encounter is still unclear.
According to police, the altercation began around 10:30 p.m. outside a store near the intersection of Third Avenue and East 165th Street. Dixon, a resident of the Soundview section of the Bronx, was confronted by a man who, as the dispute escalated, pulled out a knife and attacked him. Paramedics rushed Dixon to Lincoln Hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
A Life Cut Short, A History of Crime
Sources close to the investigation revealed that Dixon had a lengthy criminal history, with over 20 arrests. In 2018, he was convicted of attempted assault and sentenced to six years in prison. He was released on parole in July 2023 and was set to be on parole until June 2026. This history, while tragic, paints a picture of a man who was no stranger to violence.
The attacker, last seen fleeing south on Third Avenue, has yet to be identified or apprehended. Police are now sifting through surveillance footage from the area, hoping to piece together the moments leading up to and following the stabbing. They are also asking anyone with information to come forward.
